Day of Service

Post Day of Service will be May 2nd this year, we will be meeting at 0830 that morning at the Old Lions Club in Platte City to cleanup the cemetery in town before moving to two other local cemeteries. We are excited to have some volunteer help from the school district for this event!

Spring Buddy Poppy events

The post will be out at the local Price Chopper handing out Buddy Poppy's and meeting the community - this will take place on May 16-17 at Walmart on Barry Road and on May 22-23 at Price Chopper in Platte City. Please stop by while you are out and about. If you are interested in volunteering please reach out to us via the contact us link on the website.

Memorial Day events

Memorial Day event planning is starting to happen, we will be in Platte City for the annual event and make our stops at the local cemeteries to pay our respects we have also been invited to participate at the Second Creek Cemetery.

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where he served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.


There is a new cartoon everyday.

We have exciting things planned for this quarter!  We started this month by holding annual elections at the post, we are excited to have a few new members take on leadership roles in the upcoming months after the National Conference.  Congrats to Terry and Janae Probst on there election to Quartermaster and Junior Vice.
 
We have some events happening as we roll into the spring and summer months, community outreach and recruiting events are being arranged at this time, keep in touch to see where you may be able to lend a hand.
 
We are also excited to have students from the National Honor Society from Platte County volunteering to assist with different events, its a great match of the Veterans of the community and the young leaders of tomorrow making a difference in the community.
