Its that time of the year again, Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen entries will soon be underway, it's a great opportunity to have your ideas or voice heard and a chance at great scholarship money to help on the journey wherever it may lead. The 2026-27 theme is: “What a Veteran Taught Me About America.” Follow the links for the information needed. Voice of Democracy is open to all 9-12th grade students. Patriots Pen is open to all 6-8th grade students.

Cops for Kids Event

The Post will be hosting a booth at the annual Cops for Kids event in Platte City on Aug 11th from 5-9 pm. The event will be held at the waterpark in town down off of 4th Street. Come out and enjoy a great event put on by the First Responders in the area and while there stop by and see us, we will be available to answer questions and provide information on veterans benefits.

Post BBQ

This community event is scheduled for 19 September 2026, we are coordinating with the Downtown Platte City Committee to host a BBQ during Farmer's Market weekend, this event supports a great cause. The post will have a booth to visit while out enjoying the town, to include having a Veteran information booth with our recruiter and Post Benefits Advisor Present.

Platte City Fall Fest

Platte City will be hosting its annual Fall Fest, Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. on Main Street. The post will have a booth to visit while out enjoying the town, to include having a Veteran information booth with our recruiter and Post Benefits Advisor Present.

Platte City Winter Fest and Tree Lighting

Winter Fest with Tree Lighting in Platte City is just a few short months away, come and enjoy the joys of the holiday season with your community and stop by and see the local VFW post booth while there. November 25th, times TBA. The post will have a booth to visit while out enjoying the town, to include having a Veteran information booth with our recruiter and Post Benefits Advisor Present.

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where he served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.

We have exciting things planned for this quarter!  We started this month by holding annual elections at the post, we are excited to have a few new members take on leadership roles in the upcoming months after the National Conference.  Congrats to Terry and Janae Probst on there election to Quartermaster and Junior Vice.
 
We have some events happening as we roll into the spring and summer months, community outreach and recruiting events are being arranged at this time, keep in touch to see where you may be able to lend a hand.
 
We are also excited to have students from the National Honor Society from Platte County volunteering to assist with different events, its a great match of the Veterans of the community and the young leaders of tomorrow making a difference in the community.
