Post honors our departed veterans

Jason Lambrecht - 6/2/2024

On May 27th, 2024 post 4055 was honored to be invited to participate at three local cemeteries to honor the dead and remember their sacrifices.  The day started with the program at the Platte City cemetery on the corners of North and 4th street in Platte City.  A fire truck greeted attendees with a huge American Flag hung from the ladder. A nicely done and attended ceremony was held where the local Post rendered a gun salute and playing of TAPS, along with the Boys Scouts providing color guard.  A wreath was laid by the Daughters of the Revolution and a reading of a necrology of the departed since last year by Mayor Hoegger.
After departure from there the members headed down to Second Creek cemetery to once again render a gun salute and play TAPS, after which they departed and finished the day at Hampton cemetery on the outskirts of Platte city to also render a gun salute and play TAPS.
